This is my first review ever! im only writing it to tell you how good this is. ive been looking for a nice app just like this streaming with no questions asked. if your considering it just do it youll be happy.

As with its iOS Counterpart(s), its an amazing app. "It just works". However, I dont like the User Interface on any of its three platforms. Something has to be done about that. From a feature standpoint, however, its near flawless. Well done. Tip: Enable Remote Control via HTTP from the applications preferences for it to show up as a controllable device in the iOS applications server list. You can do the same on your iOS device for it to show up as a controllable device here or in Safari.

works great over 3G and WiFI. Only reason I knocked a star is cause it doesnt work when you turn on password security. At least for me it didnt.

Since I only wanted to allow my children at college access to our shared itunes media away from home, setting up Lion Server was just over kill. StreamToMe provided an easy way to set up streaming both within and outside of a home WiFi network. Setting up the companion program SERVETOME on my iMAC at home along with a dynDNS link to my local network was surprisingly simple. In a couple of minutes my children living in Massachusetts and Mississippi were able to log on to my iMac running ServeToME with an ID and password and access our itunes media through the internet on StreamToMe. (Note: While the default video quality is 480p it was easy to increase the streaming quality to 720P.) While I was traveling I listened to my music stored on the server. The video and sound quality on my iPhone and Laptop was great. Bottom-line: If you arent ready to configure Lion Server (like I am) consider StreamToME and ServeToMe as home-sharing on steroids.

I dont know much about setting up wireless connections between different parts of a system within a home, but i didint want to fill up the iPad with all the information, movies, photos, and music that were alrady on my iMac- On a whim, I downloaded this onto both….30 seconds later I was streaming music and videos from my wi-fi connection to my iPad! Simple and easy to use! I think that you can connect to your "server" from any connection! Really, really, cool….

This is a great app. I say this because the complimentary application ServeToMe lets you stream any file from your PC to your TV through your phone. Essentially making your phone an apple tv.

I was looking for a program that would stream video and music outside of my home network. iTunes will do that for music using home sharing, but outside of the network it just doesnt work for me. There are several places you can stream your audio from your iTunes library, but this is the only one I have found that works even on 3G data that can flawlessly stream HD video!! Easy set up, works very well, I would have paid for this but guess what…..ITS FREE1111 TIP: Install the server "serve to me" software on your mac or pc first then you can use the information there; the IP address and port to set up the "stream to me" client to find your music, photos and video from the internet.

Seriously, best stream app around. Streams video, music and even photos. I have Tera bytes of media files I need to access outside the home, this serve the files when and where ever I want them (As long as my cat doesnt power down my home server by tripping on the power). Would definitely pay for this app if they start charging, as long as they maintain and improve this app and doesnt go crazy in pricing like most apps specifically on the mac app store (Really? same app, sometimes even less functions but high price becos it is on a mac). Until the day mobile internet becomes so fast that VPN or remote access can be supported in real time (which is a long long way away), this is the best option for accessing huge collection of files remotely.

Unfortunately for those who have 720p/1080p files this is not a option. StreamToMe Server strictly uses only the CPU for transcoding to clients. There is no Intel CPU that can handle live 1080p transcoding. Hence, the video often stalls for long periods of time while the CPU struggles to transcode. The audios is garbled for 1080p and stallsfor 720p. This app desparately needs to be rewriiten to utilize the GPU (OpenCL/CUDA) on the server side and/or XGRID for those with multiple Macs.

I absolutely love this app. I have a NAS that contains thousands of video files in varying qualities that are all avaliable on the go from my mac, iPad, or iPhone. I love the ability to transcode to whatever bitrate i need to based on my connection speed. The servetome app is running on my desktop with a quad core i7 930 processor and can transcode even my 1080p videos (however it really needs to be on the same network as remotely accessing it is simply too slow for my upload speeds in my apartment). However i still can access the videos in a lower transcoded quality over 3G, which is great when i connect it to my pico projector on the go. The one problem I experience as of late is that 720p MKV files are frequently causing a loop of sorts where 30 seconds will play and then the video will start over with a really nasty overlay. The only way around this Ive found is to force the bitrate on the recieving device down to about 320 kbps. Im not sure why only the latest iteration of the server software casuses this, but all the benefits this app provides still affords it a full 5 star rating from me.

Downloaded all of the required files and literally within minutes was streaming my files to my iPhone4s over the 3G network. I am tremendously impressed with how easy and seemless the installation went. I am almost in disbelief how easy this was to get running…maybe now i wont have to set up a true VPN at home.

Works great and allows to travel with all of our movies. Instead of choosing what we "might want to watch" everything is right at our finger tips.

LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS APP!! I know Im screaming but so excited. Instantly works and so easy to use. Will be so great to not clutter up my iphone or ipad with all my videos, music and photos. Havent quite figured out yet how to get my photos file from iPhoto onto the stream effectively, but Im sure there must be a way.

A couple of things I NEED from StreamToMe. First, I need 1080p. Second, PLEASE give us a Windows client. You have ServeToMe on Windows, but not StreamToMe. Come on! Love this app, btw. Great Work!

Hands down one of the most awsome ways to access your music and photos at home while on the road. After figuring out how to pass the right protocols through my router and assign a dns name to my router this application works flawlessly. From my iphone I can stream any music off my huge drive at home without having to carry or sync piles of files. The buffering is minimal and the sound is superb! Locally its as fast as you could ever imagine. I can sit downstairs and listen to my music and move through all of my photo alblum. Short on drive space or just tired of syncing your iphone ... give this application a try. Ill say again... it takes a little work to let the outside world see it to pick it up on your mobile device but requires nothing locally to setup. 5 Stars!!!
