This software is a great complement to my MacBook Air, since I dont want to full it up with every musics, films, photographies that I have on my iMac.

how do you use this app?? so frustrating

Have been using the iPhone version of this for some time now and waiting for the Mac version. Thank you for making it! Perfect combo to have for taking my media collection with me anywhere. Wouldve given it 5 stars but I still have some playback issues where the video stalls over internet streaming. Otherwise, love it!

Downloaded this app to watch some .3pg videos that i have on my MAC - you can only open files that are uploaded to a server not local files

Ive been using StreamToMe from back in the day when it was first released on the iPhone. Ive never looked back. This badboy software is now available on the Mac desktop - for free!! Matthew, are you insane? For anyone whos comtemplating using this to stream media content from home, dont wait. Its easy to setup and youll be up and running in no time at all. Bravo to the developers for delivering such an awesome app!!!!! I salute you ;)

Been using StreamToMe on iPhone/iPad for years and I love how smoothly it works. Very handy having this on the mac as well, but maybe a UI update would be nice (It feels very iOS 6). A windows version of this app would be fantastic! But that’s just small stuff. Thanks for a great program!

I have used this app since I discovered it was available on the iPhone and have continued to use it on my iPad, I have long anticipated the arrival of the Mac version and I am extremely happy with the performance and quality of this app, its sole current deficiency seems to be lack of dual monitor support, when attempting to play a stream in fullscreen when using two monitors, the application minimizes and the audio successfully plays, however, the video currently does not play. I suspect it to be related to a video display layer either not supporting more than one screen or it is not being used correctly, I suspect the former. I can hardly wait to see how good this app will get, my entire family uses this app as do several of my friends. Keep up the good work.

Fantastic! I no longer store any media on my iPhone unless I need a high quality copy or need to access it when out of range. Occasional bug on iOS 4.2.6: it doesn’t keep playing in background when switching to other apps or freezing screen. Tech support was quick to respond to the problem but no permanent solution yet. (I was told to make sure app was showing up as main media player in backgrounding menu. If not, restart app. If not then, restart phone. Usually fixed by step one, but frequently comes back, especially if I use the pause button on the headset instead of on the screen.) Streaming on 3G is slow and less effective, especially for video. Works MUCH better on Wi-Fi, especially if streaming from computer on local wi-fi. Would give 5 stars if fix the backgrounding issue.

This is an amazing app... it works as advertised with an easy-to-use interface. Very easy to setup, install client app on viewing system and install server app on system where videos are stored. The only thing that kept me from giving this 5-stars is the need to subscribe to a dynamic DNS service for streaming via the Internet (if you dont have a fixed IP). This is beyond the interest and capabilities of most casual computer users. Ive also used the Air Video app on my iPhone. That app uses some kind of lookup service that allows the client & server to find each other without resorting to a separate dynamic DNS service.

So much easier than trying to connect to my iMac via file sharing and getting a video file. This is easy and works even remotely. My only wish: add Airplay support so I can ship an MKV file directly to my Apple TV.

Ive been using this for several years now on all of the various platforms (originally, a first gen iPod Touch, then iPhone 3GS, and now Mac. This has become an indispensible app for me. I can listen to my full music library or watch movies from anywhere. At my work computer? No problem, stream some good background music while I work. On the commute? Dial up some tunes. Traveling and bored in a hotel? Fire up a movie from my home computer. The developer has responded to several questions Ive asked over the years and has been hard at work adding functionality with frequent updates. In short, stop reading and start downloading. This is an amazing app.

I LOVE this software. Lets me stream my music from my home Mac to my office Mac, or even my iPhone over the web no matter where Im at. How awesome is that?!

Loving this. No longer have to have music on my MacBook or iOS (I bought the iPhone version) Streaming from my wifes computer at home which is running Windows Vista. Nicely done!

Installed this on both my iPhone and my MacBook. Works flawlessly with everything Ive been throwing at it, no matter the format. What really blew me away was that it streams my 1080p rips (downconverted to 720p) with absolutely no issues. Oh, and theyre mkv anime rips with embedded subtitles - it still displayed everything, perfectly, with no configuration on my end! How could you beat that? I replaced Air Video and SubSonic with this and the iPhone apps - why bother use 2 applications on my server, when this one does the job all by itself? Less resource usage, too - of course this is most likely because Ive gone from 2 applications to 1 to perform the same function, but that cant be beat. And really, for 3 bucks for the entire package (server and desktop software free, iPhone app is 3 bucks) how can you beat it? This is quite honestly the most solid piece of streaming software Ive ever used - and Ive tried just about everything (Ive even ventured into the terrible world that is TVersity!) I would have paid 20 bucks for this suite, easily. This is a must have.

Why bother stating an app is Free when it requires you to spend $$$ for another device, another app for iphone, etc. Just, for cripessakes, say it upfront. This kinda crap turns people off. Either its a free version or its not. If it requires you to buy something else to make a "free" app work, then it aint free. Jeez!

Excellent streaming video app. it worked correctly the first time on my LAN. It took a few minutes to make some minor adjustments to the Apple Express Router, but worked flawlessly over the internet. Excelllent quality app. A winner.

Surprisingly good. Much more accurate and easier to use than Plex and lower cost. Sorry I read about Plex first.
